The Master’s and Doctoral Programs in Dentistry started in August 2017, with Master’s in Science and Doctor in Philosophy degrees, after being approved by the Evaluation Committee in Dentistry from CAPES (Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel) with the grade of 4. Both programs aim to prepare highly qualified students to the exercise of dental education, research and activities in the field of Dentistry by improving their qualification previously obtained during their D.D.S. or D.M.D. The Master’s and Doctoral Programs in Dentistry from the University of Brasilia intend to train masters and doctors with high technical and researcher qualification, that are sensitive to an integrated training, creative and resolutive professionals and who meet the demand of Health Educational Institutions with the ability to generate new ideas and concepts. Yet, the Program endeavors to form alumni with the ability to perform original and independent research in Dentistry and related areas, being able to act in the field of Higher Education, industry and research institutions with activities in education, research, administration, and technological innovation.

 

Mission

Considering the role of the Public University as an agent that promotes social transformations, has the ability to produce relevant and useful knowledge, and considering the in the alumni profile defined by the new national curricular guideline, which is characterized by a critical professional, who is able to learn how to learn, to work in teams and to consider the social reality prioritizing an universal health care with the focus on the health promotion and diseases prevention, the Master’s and Doctoral Programs in Dentistry of the University of Brasilia have the following goals:

1- To form qualified health professionals for the exercise of teaching in the higher education (Graduate, Master’s and Doctoral Programs) in Dentistry and with the ability to perform original and independent research in Dentistry and related areas.

2- To meet regional and national demand of qualified health professionals capable of mediating the practices applied in the health services and the knowledge acquired, aiming to formulate, coordinate, execute and evaluate interventional projects that can provide change in the construction and development of the health system at both regional and national levels, integrating research, education and extension.

Specific aims:

  1. To develop the proposals of knowledge production taking into consideration the mastr’s or/and doctoral project
  2. To promote exchange with professionals of related areas such as biology, chemistry and bioengineering
  3. To encourage partnerships with national and international institutions

 

Curricular proposal

For the Master’s Program, the student must complete at least of 24 credits, of which 12 must be obtained in required courses and the other 12 may be taken in elective courses. For the Doctoral Program, the student must complete 32 (thirty-two) credits, of which 16 (sixteen) must be enrolled in required courses and 16 (sixteen) credits may be taken in elective courses.
